Data Protection
Everything you need to know about data protection & privacy on this website.
As a web developer & designer, the privacy and data protection of this website's visitors are particularly important to me. At the same time, I also want to know whether this website works for its visitors and for me. A few small tools are therefore still necessary, but I choose ones that do not collect personal / sensitive data, so that no consent needs to be obtained.
Newsletter
The external service Buttondown is used for the newsletter. Buttondown is based in the USA, but according to its own information, it is fully GDPR compliant. What this means for you specifically:
- Your email address is stored on servers in the USA
- You can request a copy of all your data from Buttondown yourself at any time[1]
- Your data is neither shared with third parties nor with advertisers[2].
Tracking
To understand how often and whether the website is accessed at all, and what types of devices are generally used to access it, I use umami.is. This tool shows me the following for each visit:
- Browser
- Operating system
- Location (country, e.g.: Austria)
- General screen size (e.g. Phone, Large Phone, Computer Monitor, etc.)
Blocking
You can also prevent even this information from being collected. To do so, install a suitable tool such as Ghostery and block the URL umami.dev.
Cookies
This website does not set any cookies. That's why you won't see a banner either.
If you have any further questions about data protection, you can always send me an email.
